Happiness is hiking with friends...
Hi I’m KK, a trekker who enjoy the great outdoor. I have been to Nepal a few times and started to share this joy with friends by trekking with them to the few treks that I been to. Later with some friends, and with no where to trek during the Covid era, we decided to put this pages together to show case what we know and how we can help.
I am by no mean a strong trekker, rather an easy pace type. To me, I think that going at a good comfortable pace and enjoy the surrounding environment would be more fulfilling than just head straight to the destination. In another word, the journey matter – of course, the destination too but should not be the deal breaker. I do understand some may have other considerations, like, availability, objective, fitness, etc you may have different take on this. Whichever the pace, it is your trip and your itinerary. Just be there to enjoy it at your pace.
Nepal – as I see it…
if you will to refer to google map you will know that Nepal is a big country – much bigger than Singapore but relatively smaller to its neighbors. which is China in the North, and India in the South. At the East of Nepal you will find Bhutan and Bangladesh separated by the Indian Siliguri Corridor. Nepal is home to Mount Everest (The Nepalese name is Sagarmatha and the Tibetan name is Chomolungma). And, Lumbini, birthplace of Buddha is located in the Terai plains of Southern Nepal.
Kathmandu is the capital and is the major international flight route. Here you could re-route your domestic flight to the various Province and District. I believe you will fly in to Kathmandu unless you have other special arrangement. Once out of the airport, you will need transport to your hotel. For a start, go the Thamel (tourist spot) and you can find lot of hotels and guesthouses there. I am using hotel and guesthouse interchangeably. I don’t think you need to book in advance, but if you could, book it. Even if you book the guesthouse, you may want to avoid paying in advance. Pay them at the end of your stay.
